A Measurement Technique to Improve Accelerometer
Calibration
Traditionally, the measurement
channels of accelerometer calibration systems have
used precision RMS-sensing digital voltmeters to provide
the ratio of test accelerometer
output with regard to reference accelerometer output.
Although very accurate, RMS
measurement techniques have the disadvantage of including
unwanted signal
components such as harmonic distortion and wideband noise.
Beran Instruments
have devised a method of sine correlation measurement
which filters out the unwanted
signals, making the measurement faster and more accurate
since settling times are
reduced.

Effective Route to Calibrating
Accelerometers
Beran Instruments has
developed a system that allows accelerometers, velocity
and
displacement transducers to be calibrated as separate
devices or as part of an entire
system. The model 475 Calibration System reduces the risk
of a faulty transducer
impacting on the integrity of the condition monitoring
system as a whole. It achieves this
by providing a traceable verification of the transducer
and the complete measurement
chain.
