One of the key components of the Beran system is its use of a Frequency Response Analyser (FRA). The FRA uses the Single Sine Correlation technique, which makes it ideal for the calibration of microphones, by removing unwanted harmonics and noise present in the measurement system. The technique involves the use of very narrow band-pass digital filters, which are locked to the excitation test frequency used to drive the microphone actuator. The phase response of a microphone and pre-amplifier may also be measured.

The Beran 801M Microphone Conditioning unit is remotely controlled by the Beran 475/485 analyser and contains all of the necessary interface circuitry to perform Pressure, Insert Voltage and Electrostatic Actuator calibration.
